PUBLIC ACCOUNTING EXPERIENCE



I have over eight years of auditing experience, which includes audit participation, planning, and supervision of school districts and state and local governmental entities audit engagements.


I have been extensively involved in implementation of the Single Audit Act and the implementation of the requirements of GASB 34. I have completed numerous training courses specifically designed around the GASB codification.


In addition, I served as an audit manager for many large government organizations and provided accounting, auditing and advisory services to a variety of entities. Plus, I served as chairperson of the government audit committee during my Public Accounting Experience.


My entire career has been devoted to governmental clients much as a single department might be dedicated in a larger firm. Therefore, I am confident in my abilities to service both large and small government clients.



INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE



I have several years of experience managing School District finances. This included working closely with the Directors of Transportation, Special Education, Facilities and Food Service to manage these significant cost centers.


My industry experience includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Responsibility for preparing School District budget of $84 million, with approximately 640 employees.

  • Responsibility for overseeing total accounting services, including accounts payable, payroll processing, grant financial management and general ledger maintenance.

  • Successfully resolved twenty audit findings from prior years to zero findings within one year and streamlined the audit process significantly which eventually translated into savings of approximately $30,000 in audit fees, which were $50,000 the year before I joined the District.

  • Successfully developed and implemented the process for preparing monthly School Board reports- a key function that was never completed.

  • Monitored and maintained year end projections and daily cash flow reports.

  • Guided a staff of five accountants through in-house and on-the-job training techniques

  • Responsible for preparing annually the entire Basic Financial Statements and Required Supplementary Information, a key process that had never been attempted or achieved at the District. The report was always ready at the start of the audit. All we needed was the Audit Opinion.
